In 1987 the West End Refugee Support Group was formed in response to the needs of of newly arrived families arriving from the camps. Hundreds of volunteers continue to make their time energy and qualifications and resources available for the refugees situated in the south side of Brisbane. The suburbs are Salisbury ,Tarragindi, Holland Park, Stones Corner, Greenslopes, Inala, Acacia Ridge, Annerley, Moorooka, Yeronga, Buranda, West End and Dutton Park.

The Refugee Womens Sewing Initiative provides resources for use in child care centres, schools, colleges, and universities:

• Sheets sets (for child care and pre-school)
• Chair Bags  (primary and secondary school)
• Library Bags (primary and secondary school)
• Swimming Bags(primary and secondary school)
• Aprons  (schools, colleges and universities)
