Australians live in a democratic society in which the right to speak freely is taken for granted. However there is no statutory or constitutional free speech protection in Australian law, so how is inappropriate content classified and restricted for print, television, movies, games and websites? Who decides what we should express or view? Some issues explored include banning and restricted viewing; concerns over surveillance and privacy; and defamation and vilification.
